Breakfast of Champions

On October 30th, The Walk the Walk America team hosted a special launch breakfast, Breakfast of Champions, at the beautiful Eventi Hotel to officially kick off the 2014 season! We were so thrilled that our very own Nina Barough, President and Founder of Walk the Walk Worldwide, could join us “across the pond” to help welcome our many honored guests. Special thanks goes out to our inspiring guest speakers, Stacy Monahan of Empire BlueCross BlueShield, Dr. Donna D’Alessio of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Breast Examination Center of Harlem, and 2013 MoonWalk Participant Maureen Gibson.

And what would a celebratory launch breakfast be without a giant check in the shape of a foot? Most importantly of all, Nina and Walk the Walk presented a grant of $200,000 to the dedicated team at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s BECH Since its founding in 1979, BECH — an outreach program of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center — has screened more than 204,592 women for breast cancer. BECH has an established reputation in the Harlem community for free, high-quality care offered by its professional staff.

This Center is very dependent on philanthropic grants and without these, they would not be able to achieve the wonderful work that they do, so you can see how important Walk the Walk is…to not only get you fitter and healthier but to also raise funds for those that really need it!
