The SunWalk London 2014!

WTW-SW-2013-IJ-182

Across the Pond, take a look at SunWalk London where our walkers participate in the 5K, 10K and half marathon challenge as well as some fun in the sun with live music, the fair and the children’s arena!

The SunWalk Festival and all its treasures is about to arrive at Battersea Park so I hope your walking is going well and that you are ready for the challenge, not to mention lots of surprises! If you have friends or family who are now thinking that they would like to join you for the 5K, 10K or Half Marathon, they can still enter… but don’t delay as entries will have to close in the next few days!

Arrival time

Make a note.. The SunWalk Festival opens at 8.00 am (08:00) and closes at 7.00 pm (19:00) on Sunday 6th July. All walkers will need to arrive by 9.00 am at the latest.

Everybody should have received their packs by now but if yours has not arrived, please contact us from Monday 30th June and we will do our best to either track it down or make some other arrangement.

So… with only 8 days to go until the park is awash with Pirates, I wanted to send you all the latest news and updates of what is shaping up to be a very exciting day for us all!

If you haven’t visited our website recently take a look…lots of information is being posted daily on our Q&A’s so if you’re looking for answers like,  “what time you need to get there” or “how to plan your journey”, plus lots more, you will find all the answers here.

Next week, I will be sending you an email with any last-minute information and, I hope, a good weather report so that you can prepare for the day… but, whatever the weather, it is going to be wonderful…

Meanwhile take a look at this… and get a taste of the delights we have in our Treasure Chest…

Fundraising….

Well I hope your Treasure Chest is getting nice and heavy… maybe not with gold coins… but last year we raised almost £200,000…so come on, one and all, lets raise the bar and try to beat it! Every penny we raise really does make a difference. If you need any help with ideas on how to raise money or set up an online fundraising page then just give Polla and our Walker Support Team a call on 01483 741430!

Decorating your bra!

If you haven’t already done so, it’s time to get out the glue and cottons and start getting creative. You can find lots of tips here but with our Pirate theme and the romance of the high seas, it’s not difficult to think up lots of ideas. Look out for our gorgeous Pirate bling… eye patches, must-have rings, gorgeous sparkly tattoos and all just for a £1.00 donation!

Looking out for our younger Walkers…

We are thrilled to have so many younger walkers taking part; it is always really encouraging to see them taking on the challenge and actually enjoying being a little bit competitive in wanting to reach the Finish Line before their mums and dads!

Because it will be a busy place with lots of distractions… please feel free to visit our Help Desk and Information Point and pick up a child’s wrist band that you can write your telephone number on!

And… whilst on the subject of younger supporters… look out for our Children’s Theatre with shows running throughout the day…

Tales of Captain Bluebeard and the Missing Treasure – An interactive pantomime about the naughty Captain Bluebeard who steals other pirates’ treasure. Lady Pearl and her crew, Pirate Polly and Barnacle Belle spend all their time trying to find him to get their treasure back… find out more about this wonderful show here!

Amongst others, the fantastic The AllStars Collective.
