Studies have shown that if you walk a minimum of 4 times a week at a pace that increases your heart rate and for a minimum of 45 minutes, you could lose up to 18lb in weight without even changing your diet. Power Walk at approximately 4.5 miles an hour and mile for mile you will burn the same energy as a runner. Of course, while you’re getting into shape, you will be developing greater core stability, strengthening your lower back, improving your posture and, as a weight-bearing exercise, walking can help to develop and keep strong bones which in turn will help to protect you from osteoporosis.
